Below is a hands on article on how to set up Hosptial wiring -
List of material needed -
1) 230 V, 5A SPDT switch – 1; 230 V, 5A SPST switch – 1
2) Switch boxes - 2
3) 230V, 60W Lamp – 2
4) Round block – 2
5) Holder – 2
6) L - Bend – 1
7) T – Bend – 3
8 ) 30 cm 1/4 inch PVC pipes – 6
9) 10cm 1/4 inch PVC pipes – 2
10) Clamps – 14
11) 1/4 inch screws – 28
12) 1/2 inch screws – 2
13)1/2 inch nails – 3
14) Wire – of suitable length
15) 50 cm PVC pipe
How to set it up
According to the schematic, the layout is drawn. According to the layout, we need 30cm PVC pipe, 50 cm PVC pipe, round blocks, L-bends, T-bend and switch boxes to be interconnected as shown. After that, fix holders on the round blocks.
Now, as a next step, wiring is done. Assume the poles of the SPDT switch as 'a' and 'b' and the same of SPST switch as 1, C and 2. Now, connect a wire to the pole 'a' of the SPST switch and take it out as the PHASE WIRE. Now, connect pole 'b' of S1 and pole c of S2 by means of wires. Connect a wire to the pole 2 of S1 and it is taken out as the phase wire. Now, pole 2 of S1 is connected to pole 'a' of S2. Now connect a wire from pole 1 of S1 to one of the poles of L1. Another wire is also connected to this pole and is taken out as the neutral wire. Now, connect the other pole of L1 and one of the poles (pole corresponding to neutral pole of L1) of L2. From this pole make connection pole 'b' of S2. Now connect the other pole of L2 to the pole 'c' of S1. Now the wiring is completed. Check the circuit for any shorting. Being satisfied, connect switches to round blocks, bulbs to holders.. voila.. !! Hospital wiring is ready!!
